Abstract

Paraphrase of Rule 9 Ball Hitting the Opponent and a Player Turning

If the striker turns on the ball, and appeals for let, the striker will be awarded a let, unless:

  • The striker would not have been able to make a good return, Referee rules No Let (RoWSS2001 Rule 9.2.1.1).

  • There is no reasonable fear of the ball hitting the opponent, Referee rules No Let (RoWSS2001 Rule 9.2.1.2).

  • The striker used the act of turning to create the opportunity to appeal rather than attempt to return the ball (RoWSS2001 Appendix 1 G11 CREATED INTERFERENCE), Referee rules No Let (RoWSS2001 Rule 9.1.2 and RoWSS2001 Rule 9.2.3).

  • The opponent did not make every effort to avoid the interference on turning (RoWSS2001 Appendix 1 G5 INTERFERENCE ON TURNING OR A FURTHER ATTEMPT), Referee rules Stroke to Striker (RoWSS2001 Rule 9.2.2.2).
